SkyDot tracks your own flight with no wifi and no mobile data. Your position comes from GPS satellites and the map from region packs you download before departure, so the aircraft keeps moving for the whole flight. Oceans, deserts and anywhere else without cell coverage included.
Download the map before you fly
Offline map packs are downloaded by region while you still have wifi: a coarse world basemap that covers every flight anywhere, plus detailed packs for the North Atlantic, North Pacific, Europe, North America, South Asia, the Middle East, East and South East Asia, and Oceania.
Once a pack is on the device, the map draws entirely from local storage. Nothing is fetched in the air.

What the flight HUD shows
Altitude, ground speed, heading, distance flown, distance remaining, and time to landing including the arrival time in destination local time. Numbers come from the GPS fix, so they keep updating whether or not anything is reachable over the network.
What it costs you in data
Nothing. No roaming charges, no inflight wifi purchase, no background sync. A tracker that pulls positions from a server has nothing to reach at cruise altitude.

Can I track a flight without internet?
Yes, if the app reads GPS directly and has maps stored on the device. SkyDot does both. Download the region pack for your route while you have wifi, then track the whole flight in Airplane Mode.
How much storage do offline maps use?
The world basemap is about 126 MB and covers every flight. Regional packs are roughly 90 to 140 MB each and are optional. Download only the ones for the routes you fly.
Does it show other aircraft around me?
No, by design. Other aircraft require a live data feed, which is exactly what stops working at 38,000 feet. SkyDot tracks your flight, from your seat.
