Who builds SkyDot

SkyDot is built and maintained by Jahanzaib Akhter, and published by Evolvera Technologies. One person reads every message sent to support.

Jahanzaib Akhter

Jahanzaib Akhter is the developer of SkyDot and writes the articles on this site. Every article carries that name, so there is a person answerable for what it says.

SkyDot does one job: it shows you where your own flight is with every radio switched off, using the GPS receiver in your phone and maps stored on it. It does not track other aircraft, and the site says so wherever it matters.

How the facts on this site are checked

  • Claims about SkyDot are checked against the app’s code, not against a plan or a press line. If the app does not do it, the site does not say it does.
  • Facts about the world, such as flight rules, GPS accuracy or how the aurora behaves, link to a primary source under the questions on each page.
  • Facts about other companies, such as which airlines have wifi or what another app does, carry a “Facts checked” month at the top of the page, because they go stale. Where something could not be confirmed, the page says so rather than guessing.
  • Comparisons are written by the maker of one of the apps being compared. Read them with that in mind. Each one names what the other app does better.

Found a mistake?

Email support@evolveratechnologies.com with the page and the sentence. Corrections are made on the page and its “Updated” date changes with them. For problems with the app itself, the support page explains what to send.
