Free vs Premium

What the money actually buys.

Premium lifts limits. It does not put the core experience behind a paywall, so most of this table reads the same on both sides.

The free tier, exactly

5 saves, 15 if you watch the ads.

5Saved flights, free

A lifetime total, not a daily or monthly allowance. Nothing resets at midnight, and nothing expires.

+10More, by watching ads

Each rewarded ad in the travel log unlocks 1 more save. You can watch 2 a day, up to 10 bonus saves in all.

15The free ceiling

Where the free tier tops out. Past that, keeping a flight in your log needs Premium.

Flights past your allowance are never deleted. SkyDot keeps recording and saving them — they sit locked in your travel log, and every one of them unlocks the moment you upgrade.

Questions

Before you pay, and after you have.

Is SkyDot free?

Yes, and the part that matters most is free forever. Tracking your flight offline in Airplane Mode, the world basemap, live altitude, ground speed, heading, distance and ETA, the name of the city or sea below you, flight-number lookup, the landing countdown and the sun almanac all work without paying anything and without an account. The free tier saves your first 5 flights and shows ads.

What happens after my 5 free flights?

Flights past your allowance are never deleted. SkyDot keeps recording and saving them — they sit locked in your travel log, and every one of them unlocks the moment you upgrade. Tracking itself is never limited either — SkyDot will follow every flight you take, whether or not you have saves left.

Can I get more free saves without paying?

Yes. From the travel log you can watch a rewarded ad to unlock 1 more save, up to 2 ads a day and 10 bonus saves in total. That takes the free tier to 15 saved flights in all.

Do I have to subscribe?

No. Lifetime is a one-time purchase of $19.99 — it never renews and there is nothing to cancel. Monthly and Annual exist for people who would rather not pay up front.

Which plan should I pick?

If you fly even a few times a year, Lifetime. At $19.99 it costs less than seven months on Monthly, and it is what the app itself recommends. Annual works out about 64% cheaper than paying monthly for a year. Monthly is the one to take if you want to try Premium on a single trip.

How does the free trial work, and when am I charged?

Monthly and Annual both start with a 7-day free trial. You are not charged during the trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it converts to a paid subscription and your store charges you then, and again at the start of each period after that. Lifetime has no trial because there is nothing recurring to trial.

How do I cancel?

Through your store, not through us — we cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf. On Android, open Google Play then Subscriptions. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Premium until the period you already paid for runs out.

Do you offer refunds?

Refunds are handled by the store you bought through, under their policy, not by us — we never see your card details and cannot issue a store refund directly. Google Play and Apple both have a request form, and both are usually quick about it.

Why is the price different in my country?

Prices shown are in US dollars. SkyDot is sold in 174 regions and your store sets the price where you are, so the amount you see may differ. It is not a conversion of the dollar figure: each store picks a round local number. In Pakistan, for instance, the app currently shows Rs 900 monthly, Rs 3,500 annually and Rs 4,900 for Lifetime.

Is Lifetime really forever?

Yes. One payment of $19.99, and Premium stays unlocked on that store account permanently, including every future update. There is no renewal, no second charge and no expiry.

Does Premium work on both my iPhone and my Android phone?

Purchases belong to the store you made them in. Premium bought on Google Play unlocks on the Android devices signed in to that Google Account, and a purchase made on the App Store unlocks on the Apple devices signed in to that Apple Account. Buying on one store does not carry across to the other, which is how both stores work rather than a SkyDot rule.

Does it really work in Airplane Mode?

Yes. Airplane Mode switches off the cellular and wifi radios. GPS is a receiver: it listens to satellites and transmits nothing, so it keeps working. Turn Airplane Mode on, leave Location on, and SkyDot tracks the whole flight.

Do I need wifi or an inflight data plan?

No. Download the maps you want and set your route while you still have signal on the ground. Everything after that runs on your device.

Will it drain my battery?

GPS at cruise is modest, because the receiver is doing the work and the radios are off. A long-haul flight on a full charge is comfortable, and you can close the app and reopen it later without losing the log.

Does it show other planes around me?

No, by design. SkyDot tracks your flight from your seat. It is not a plane-spotting app for watching other aircraft overhead. That needs a live data feed, which is exactly the thing that stops working at 38,000 feet.

Do I need an account?

No. Tracking works with no account at all. Google or Apple sign-in is optional, and only there to carry your travel log between devices.
